BITE-analys (The BITE Model is a framework created by mental health counselor and cult survivor Dr. Steven Hassan to identify and evaluate authoritarian control in cults, high-control religions, and abusive relationships)
Dr. Steven Hassan is a licensed mental health counselor and leading expert on cults and undue influence. A survivor of the Unification Church (the “Moonies”), he transitioned from a former cult member into a prominent advocate for ethical, non-coercive exit counseling and recovery.
Dr. Hassan is the founder and director of the Freedom of Mind Resource Center and creator of The BITE Model, a widely used framework for evaluating authoritarian psychological control across four domains: Behavior, Information, Thoughts, and Emotions.
He is also the author of seminal works on the subject, including Combating Cult Mind Control and The Cult of Trump.

- I (Information): Information och budskap låses lätt fast… (Focuses on rigid communication channels).
- T (Thought): Tankar och visioner behöver rymd… (Focuses on cognitive restriction vs. space).
